babe that he is now. One of the strangest comments he has gotten was:"Where did he get that blonde hair? The mailman?" JK was not with us at the time, so why did that person assume that the father was not blonde?
On his passport papers (we got that when he was about 4 months old) I listed him as having red hair and blue eyes. :)
BBU: He is definitely a toddler now. He can get up by himself and is pretty quick at getting around. His left arm still reaches out more than the right for balance, but he is less tilty {head tilt - tortecollis} than he has been lately. Today his friend's mom noticed that he takes much bigger steps than her son. He does take big steps. I guess he takes after his dad and is going to be a tall guy.
In other mom-news, today at the playground I met two nice ladies each with a son 15 months old. They even suggested that I go with them to the Science Center next time they go. Wow. And they both let JT give their boys goldfish crackers. (This suggests that they are semi-regular parents - hey, they are made with whole grain!) It is strange meeting other parents at the park. Sometimes they seem sort of nice and then they do wierd things with or to their children (such as encourage them to ride their skateboards down the slide). Or you just end up exchanging childrens' names and not each others. Or it is just a comparison fest. Example:
First parent: "My child is x months old and can already sit/crawl/walk/talk/enjoys foie gras/speaks French with a Parisian accent while reading Le Monde/etc."
Second parent: "Oh really? My child could do that 2 months ago and finds Le Monde quite passe."
Welcome to parenthood, a very strange hood to be in...
*I spelled that wrong on purpose, just in case someone googled it.

I can't believe he had brown hair! BLT always just had no hair. :p
I know what you mean about moms. I hear some people say how once you have kids you can only hang out with people with kids. I don't agree! I don't know, I find it hard sometimes to hang out with other parents since there is the temptation to compare. At least no one asks me if is sleeping through the night anymore!
Oh & Lucas does find Le Monde passe. :p
Yeah, sometimes it is fun to be with other parents, but I think it is nice to balance out with non-parents, too. I am guilty of making comparisons, but I hope that usually I don't voice them...
And I can't believe that BLT already has enough hair to get hat head!
My non-parent friends are sometimes way more tolerant of my child than I am!! But that said, it's nice to have OPFs (Other Parent Friends) so that the two adults don't have to try and entertain the toddler the whole time.
I really, really try not to make comparisons, but it's hard, especially when there's something I really, really want him to do that it seems EVERYONE else his age is doing. But jeez, you know, I don't want to be That Mom Who Says "Why Can't You Be Like X?" Our guys just have to be happy being who they are!!
Daddymatic was a towhead when he was little, too, but had tons of dark brown hair when I met him 10 years ago. Now there's just less hair, LOL!
