Stuck under the Futon

So what happened today?
JT and I went to story time at the NP library. He listened to the stories and colored a bit. Then we went to Starbucks and listened to a woman tell us about her life (the story included shootings, a stripper, foster care, heart defects, and it was both sad, interesting and really long). Lunch was cheese, turkey and birthday cake. Then JT decided to crawl under the futon (perhaps seeking out a long-lost M&M) and here you can see he had a little trouble getting back out. After playing in the yard, we both took a nap. Then we went to the little playground down the street, came home, and right before JK came home JT took about 4 steps! Dinner was quesadilla (he didn't eat much), grapes (which have to be peeled), mango, peas and carrots (most landed on the floor), and some more cheese. 4 teeth just do not cut it for eating food.
Speaking of food, here are JT's stats from last week's doctor's appt:
20 lbs 9 oz (35%) [at 9 mo he was 19 lbs 10 oz)
31 1/4 inches (90%) [30 1/4]

He's pretty skinny. JT's cousin, BLT, who is 4 months older is 2 inches taller and 3 1/2 pounds heavier. Will JT have a sudden growth spurt? He only gained 1 pound in the last 3 months and 1 inch.
We weren't feeding him much meat (he had tried some turducken at Christmas and that was about it) until I decided that: a> we aren't strict vegetarians and b> he can decide if he wants to be one when he is older and if he eats the poulty and fish we give him, it is fine, if not, it is okay, too. JK and I have discussed becoming true vegetarians quite often. However, he is Austrian and enjoys eating some of the tradiational meat dishes on occasion, and since I am both an Anthropologist and a non-extremist (I practice relativism in many aspects of my life), I will eat meat when others are serving it or when I feel like eating a certain dish. Of course, we re-think this every time we travel the 5 (know as I-5 for you non-Californians) toward San Jose and pass the cattle farms. Maybe they are milk cows. I am not sure, but they are not the happy cows from the commercial. They aren't standing in green pastures, but in muck and manure, crowded around a metal feeder. Very fragrant. So the jist of this story is: JT ate some sliced turkey. (He also occasionally will eat tofu cooked with ginger and garlic.) Posted by Picasa

I think this is the best picture yet. I can just see it happening ...
JT: "Wahhahaha, I'm under the futon"
Mom: "Hold on! I have to get the camera!"
So cute! I just love his blonde hair.

Those lots you see are Feed Lots where cows (for meat) are put to be fattened up before going to market.
