Before we went to Thai Spices Wednesday, we went to the beach. JT nicely played in the sand so that I could read a book, and then JK showed up, too. At dinner, JT would not sit still - he knows exactly where the mints are, so he kept pointing at them and saying "munyimunimo" or something like that - he says a version of this when he wants to eat something. I'm guessing it means "more yummy me." He ate some mints, some orange garnish and then some mango - but no yummy sweet sticky rice, tofu, veggies, etc. Instead he kept trying to climb out of the high chair and run around. So we took turns taking him outside. Usually we go to TS for lunch, and JT naps in the umbrella stroller we kept in the trunk for precisely such occasions. If only he liked Thai food, things might be different, but he just has no interest at the moment. Luckily, the boy at the next table was also fussy and their parents kept having to go out with him. (So we weren't the only ones!) And then at the next table, there was a family with a daughter about 8 and she had brought her friend. There was some interesting conversation: "I never eat chicken or pork." (After the man suggests a chicken appetizer.) "I can't drink cold things, they make my tonsils swell up." (Followed by a conversation about where tonsils are located, and whether cold drinks will shrink them or cause them to swell.) "You're ording a 3? We only order a 1." (In reference to spicyness level, with 10 the hottest. We usually order a 5, but we used to order 6es before we went to Austria. And according to JK, one of the waitstaff once told him that they can take specialty orders of spicyness, there is a customer who alwas orders a 35!)
A note to mommymatic and all my other dear reader(s): *I promise to get to the meme tomorrow!*
