WBFB #4?

Wanna-Be-Food-Blog, Issue 4 or so
We've had lots of food ups and downs the past couple of days. JT is being extremely picky about eating (and sleeping), but he also has had a cold and a fever, along with his 4th molar finally pushing through, so we are trying to get through each day without going completely insane. We tried some food products this weekend, so here are our reviews and the weekend (+ Monday)wrap-up!
TJ's chickenless nuggets: Yuck. They are too mushy and just don't taste quite right. We will not buy them again. I suggest you try the Morgenstar ones instead. JT refused them and ate his usual mac&cheese with spinach instead.
TJ's frozen banana waffles: So-so. I thought this would offer JT an alternative to oatmeal once in a while, but he was not interested. I prefer to make my own pancakes with lots of add-ins.
O Organics Vanilla Creme Sandwich Cookies: Why do we need organic oreo's? These aren't as good as the fake-oreo's from TJ's. Too hard and the creme is too sweet. They don't mush up quite right in the milk, either. (Still, if your toddler is fussing for 2 hours and won't go to sleep, these will do for recovery cookies after he finally caves in and goes to bed.)

Pumpkin-applesauce mini-muffins: I found a recipe on allrecipes.com and modified it a bit. It has only 1/4 cup of brown sugar, some almond and vanilla extracts, a cup of applesauce, a cup of pumpkin, and whole wheat flour. Pretty healthy tasting, but I think JT and the other kids might eat them. JT helped stir the ingredients, then looked at them baking in the oven. He ate one, but without too much gusto. He didn't eat his bean and spinach quesadilla either - only 1 1/2 sticks of cheese and a cup of pineapple pieces. (And he didn't touch his english muffin pizza for lunch either.)

Cheez-its, cheddar-jack flavor: We made the mistake of taking JT along to the store one evening when it was too close to bedtime. While I was scouting out frozen food, JK was trying to keep JT interested in riding in the car-cart, but when they came around the corner, this red box was in the cart, open. Huh? Apparently JT convinced JK that we needed these, and he wanted one NOW! So JK, being the sweet father that he is, opened the box and JT promptly said "Phooey!" He he had never seen them before, and once he tried them, he didn't like them. Neither did I. They have a fake overwhelming cheese flavor and are somewhat greasy. Still, if you have the box at home, you might as well eat them. JT prefers his TLC cheddar crackers.

Rice, dumped on floor: Whoops. Usually JT is allowed to play with 2 small SEALED bags of rice. Someone accidentally put the cal-rose rice in its easily opened bag on the lower shelf. We were able to salvage quite a bit (since he poured it nicely into the pan) and enjoy it with some TJ's marsala simmer sauce with tofu and TJ's garlic naan. (Both are good for a quick and easy dinner.)

Thanks for the food reviews! How were the pumpkin-applesauce muffins then? We're still doing the carrot or zuchinni muffins, 2 batches a week.
