Today we went swimming in the outdoor pool on campus. We've had a week of Santa Ana weather (hot dry breezes from the desert), and JT likes splashing around. Afterwards he had some smoothie from Jamba Juice and then we read the paper at Starbucks. By that time it had cooled off a bit, but we took this picture near a tree with red leaves. Sometimes you have to be really thankful to be able to live in San Diego.
However, the Christkindmarkt in Vienna opened a week ago today - and that is alot of fun, too. I miss putting on a winter cap and scarf and drinking a warm Punsch from a sticky cup in the midst of the bright lights and red, green, blue, and silver baubbles. Today it was in the mid 30s there; a good day to bundle up after warming up the socks on the radiators and eat roasted chestnuts out of a newspaper cone while window-shopping. It seems strange to think that we have already been back for a year. I miss meeting with my Turkish friends at the Afro and the Kukele ladies at the WUK. These were places right down the street from our apartment. Just outside our door was a kebab place - this summer we saw that they were expanding. The store they took over had been through at least 2 reincarnations during the two years we lived in the Waehringerstrasse.
