Apparently I have become one of those crazy bird-ladies. They love to perch on my legs in the yard during their 'playtime' out of the box. Today they stayed out all day in their chicken run (it is ready but the coop part isn't). Diego (the cat) likes to keep an eye on them but only from a distance and he pretends he isn't interested. Just to prove that he really is payng attention, the other day he tore past us and tangled into the watermelon vine only to emerge with a half-dead sparrow. Which he then ate. Soon these chickens will be too big to eat and they will give him a run for the money.

i did not know there were crazy bird ladies (just cat ladies, ahem) and i had no idea diego could move fast enough to rustle a bird?!
do you have to get a urban chicken sitter when you go out of town now?
Wow, they are big!
to Jenn, my neighbors had to have the other neighbors chicken sit while they were gone. They had to let them of the coop in the morning and shut them in at night. A friend came by to feed them.
that makes sense, but, Steph, why didn't they ask you to chicken sit?! :)
