Ready to Roost

Or something like that. We finally finished (mostly) JT's room, which will eventually be the boys' room. At the moment it is JT's room + changing table and gazads of toys. The baby will sleep in a small cradle in our bedroom until we figure out how we will all accommodate each other. Today I finally hot-glued a bird mobile together from some sticks from the jacaranda tree and some Indian birds that I had bought for JT's room as a baby.
JT and his friend made the pine forest for over his bed (along with a rainbow and a fox that was a source of disagreement - said friend made a cute fox but JT did NOT want the fox). I also found a cute organic cotton comforter set at a (ahem) Wallyworld, of all places, and it was on sale, so I bought 2, for the eventual bunkbeds.(That will be a project for Mr. Burli next summer. He made JT's bed and the changing table/book-toy shelf and at the minute he is trying to finish my request - a Morris-style chair.)
We also celebrated Mr. Burli's birthday with a fig, caramelized onion, cheese and balsamic reduction pizza, an artichoke heart pizza, and JT's all-time favorite, broccoli, corn, carrots, and ham pizza, followed by a non-traditional 'cake' of chocolate fondue.

Mr. Burli's present was waiting for him in front of the house.

Alright, so really he just got a Hawaiian shirt, but boy that car looked nice parked out front!

The mobile is so clever! I would have never thought of that in a million years. Happy b'day to Mr. Burli...and I hope all goes well with the new baby on the way any day now!
