Well, not really. Really it is a comedy, but not a funny one; one of those dark comedies. You pay lots of money to 'own' your own house (really, the bank owns you), and then things fall apart bit by bit. Yesterday some of the power in the kitchen decided to kick the bucket. And the window in the bathroom refused to let itself be fixed. This means that today the power is back on in the kitchen, after a three hour trip into the attic, multiple rewirings, discovering that the vent over the oven vents to the attic (because the exhaust pipe is about a foot too short - what? they realized it was too short and just left it?) and that the shower vent also vents just to the attic as well, and that there were too many wires in this one receptacle box-thingee (excuse my technical jargon) to even squeeze the switch for the disposal back in. But in any case, Mr. Handyman-Burli fixed as much as possible and we didn't have to call an electrician, which is good, because they are not cheap. Oh, and the window is back in the frame but it is still not really installed correctly. Maybe tomorrow.
Now our list of to-dos is down to... oh about a million and one things.
Luckily back-up arrived last week in form of JT's grandma. She has already endured trips to Target, Wal-mart, 3 fabric stores, 7 thrift stores, and Ikea, as well as helped make her own birthday cake, taken JT to Wendy's and to church, seen the circus, embroidered some booties, assisted JT with a bag sewing project, helped wash and fold lots of clothes, and she has become an expert on folding and unfolding the Ikea bed.
Tomorrow she will have to help me make some roman shades. And maybe finish some other crafting projects. And maybe Mr. Burli will help get the pictures finally hung up. Or not, because by the time Mr. Burli comes home another calamity will probably arise. Or maybe there will be a baby?? (I'm not convinced this baby isn't waiting until June, however.)

Oh my. remember the movie - "money pit" - i feel like that sometimes too. but i'm impressed with all you guys, especially mr. burli, are able to do. i'm also impressed with that cake. one of these days i'm so going to be at your house when the chocolate yogurt strawberry whipped cream cake makes an appearance!
Good thing you all are so handy!
Did the inspector note the exhaust pipe being too short? It seems like they would have mentioned that sort of thing in the report...
Sounds like you are very busy in the crafting department. What all are you making? I see a port opportunity here.
