Yes, JT is eighteen months old. A year and a half. Is that possible? How is it that I still haven't written a good page of dissertation material. (Okay, maybe a few poor ones.) So, to celebrate, we made Pineapple Upside Down cake together this afternoon. He and grandma checked a book out from the library "Eight Animals Bake a Cake," and it included a recipe. JT helped put the pineapple rings in the pan, and only ate 2 of the rings; then he helped measure and stir the other ingredients.
Yesterday we took JT's Great-Auntie J to the train station. JT has become quite the train lover - he now calls them "choo-choo" and can put the tracks together, even the end-cap, and then he will spend quite a while pushing the cars around. (Until they come apart or he pushes them off the track. Then he comes over, holds up the train and says, "broke.") JT hammed it up at the train station after admiring the trains, the trolleys, and a big crane.

Sunday we went to Balboa Park, and we enjoyed another organ concert. Afterwards, we even went inside the building that houses the pipes. Pretty neat.

In other good news, JT likes carrots! He now eats them, cooked in little slices with a bit of honey and butter. He doesn't like them as much as fruits: strawberries, blueberries, grapes, oranges (oyn-gies, he calls them), mangoes, etc. Yesterday we had home-grown carrots!

Is cuteness just in the air in SoCal? Because you people have it in spades!!
And congrats to JT on the milestone. D has been 18 mos for 2 weeks, and it STILL blows me away.
