It rained this weekend. Yeah! We had a dry February and that is not good for our "Winter." Mr. Burli has some pictures of JT in the rain on his phone (, I will have to get them somehow. In the meantime, here are some pictures from before the rain.
President's Day we went to Balboa Park. Phinny can now jump, run, give hugs, say sorry, bang his head twice in one day, open his lower lip on the counter only to open his upper lip on the table in one day, and his speech has really taken off. This week his vocabulary has just exploded and suddenly he is able to say "Sammy" and "Grandma" and can make 3-4 word sentences. Such a cute/exhausting age!
In other news, I got my haircut. I was pretty excited because my last haircut was horrible. I got a recommendation and braved an hour in the back of a chemical factory nail salon (how can the ladies work there everyday?) and was pleased. This selfie was right after the haircut. It doesn't look this good today (now that I have washed it and walked around in the rain), but I think it turned out pretty good. (I just looked back and realized that I had short hair when Sammy was little. So in about 4 years, it will be long again. Maybe.)
What else? Fluffy has managed to find a way to escape her new chicken coop. Last week Phinny discovered a cache of 4 eggs in the bushes. I had been searching all over for her new nesting spot! Now we know.
And now to a rainy weekend activity - my friend gave me a Neandertal excavation kit. Sammy was so excited and he worked and worked on freeing the fossils. It took him over an hour (worked on before and after a birthday party), We then worked on some dinosaur drawings today. Maybe he is a budding paleontologist!
