Since I am off for the summer, I had hoped that things would calm down and I could relax. But it does not seem to be the case. Some of the hours drag on and on, but in the evening it is so wonderfully quiet after the kids go to bed. Daytime, however, is still busy with school and errands and cooking and laundry and cleaning. Weekends are full, too. This week we celebrated a birthday (Mr. Burli) and another birthday (Tiny).

This little guy is already 2 months old. He has transitioned to his crib quite well. When my mom was here he slept in a little snuggle bed in my bed, a contraption like a box that allows you to co-sleep with the baby and not worry about rolling over on him. Now he goes to bed in his crib around 9 or 10 and wakes up at 3 or 3:30 to nurse and then again around 6, so I am at least getting slightly more sleep. (That is if I go to bed and am able to get back to sleep after the 3 am feeding.)

Today Tiny helped paint some board to make a new compost bin. He said, wouldn't it be funny if I were the papa and were cutting the boards while Papa was painting? I then asked him what he wants to do when he grows up. "Make compost bins." (Of course!)
The older boy was busy with his own project - the last of the school year. He has a presentation on orcas on Thursday, so he worked on a sculpture.
And we harvested some cucumbers (ahem), a lot of cucumbers (some were already inside). We gave some to the neighbors, but it does appear that pickles will be in our future (especially since the pickling pickles are about to be ready to harvest, too).
And did I mention "4"? Such a fun age. Well, minus the whining at the store: "kids can do whatever they want" he likes to tell me, along with "kids can get whatever they want at Target." He picked out the pinata at Casa de Pinata and also picked rainbow streamers and decorations, little cars and necklaces for the favors, and an ice cream cake for his party. This is a really neat age - I brought out the new outfit for him to wear for the party and he was so excited that it was size 4. Running into his room to put it in, he stopped and came back to ask if he also needed new underwear? After he dressed himself (I helped with the buttons and cinched the elastic to tighten the waist of the shorts), he skipped out to show off the outfit to Mr. Burli and also explained to him that while the clothes were new size 4 clothes, he still had to wear his regular underwear. (Had I known he would be so excited, I would have bought some!)
And just to let you know what else is growing.... blueberries! Last year JT picked out this bush and I have to admit it was a great choice.
