More Austria Pictures, Part gazillion

Mr. Burli took the kids to the beach this afternoon with some friends so I could do some grading and they are still not back (they went for pizza), so I can squander some time walking down memory lane instead of grading...

Mr. Burli went to a 35 year school reunion (or some number) of his elementary school. I am including this picture because the mix of fashions is quite interesting. And one guy is even wearing lederhosen shorts! Mr. Burli is the one who lives the furthest away. Some are parents, one is a grandmother. Several still live in Tainach.
A classroom. Is it always this empty or was it because school was not in session? Note the cross on the wall. Catholic symbols in the public school...
Meanwhile, JT and I watched some Olympics and I worked on Oma's quilt.
Laundry. No dryers. But if you hang it just right you can avoid having to iron anything.
Spaghetti. Tiny loves him some sauce bolognese.
The Sommerrodelbahn - here Tiny and Mr. Burli are being pulled up. JT was big enough to go by himself. I somehow missed all the fun.
We visited the Aunts one day. That was hard. Tante Kaethi (the one pictured) has her good days and her bad days. She is often dizzy and feels bad when she simply can't do the things she normally does.
One morning, Mr. Burli went to Sandra's parents house where her dad keeps bees. He got to help harvest the honey.

Sandra's mom was a haridresser (now retired), so she trimmed several inches off Tiny's hair. Tiny really wanted a hairstyle like the conductor on Polar Express (he is bald on top with some hair on the sides), but Mr. Burli likes it long.
We took a magnificent hike up the Troegenerklamm - a camyon formed by a mountain creek.
The restaurant at the top was closed (very disappointing), but there was a nice playground with ziplines  and of course the cool water of the stream.

And a wooden waterway - you could pump water in and then lock it into certain areas, then open them one by one.
Finally some food, the next day. Eierschwammerl! (Chanterelles) There are 2 times when you MUST eat out in Austria - asparagus season and chanterelle season. You don't eat these 2 things out of season - that would just be wrong. I had these marinated chanterelles on salad, later I had chanterelle goulash (at least twice), Mr. Burli had various meats with chanterelle sauces, etc. Yum.
What would dining out be without a fancy ice cream?
And of course the perfect cup of coffee. (A 'Wiener Melange.')

i think it might be about Eierschwammerl season here? but i always seem to miss it. i'll have to go to the downtown farmers market thursday to see what the mushroom lady has.

but more importantly, it really looks like a lovely trip - i wish you guys could go more often (and that i could maybe stow away in a suitcase or duffle bag like that rug i brought home with me that one time!).
