Snow and Sun

We made it through the busy week and were able to get away with friends for a few nights out in the desert and enjoy the diversity of weather in SD County.
The snow (leftover from last weekend's storm) near Cuyamaca Lake on the way to the desert.

Yes, I am wearing sandals. It wasn't really too cold.
But there was still enough snow for a few snow balls.
An hour later: the desert.
A few hours later: the desert with margaritas. (The kids were inside watching cartoon versions of Ben Hur, a Laurel and Hardy movie, and then some Kung Fu Panda.)
The next morning - Tiny up early again, but not early enough for the orange light.
Art.
Friends' cousin's house. It belonged to Gale Gordon, and Lucille Ball sometimes would come to visit. The owner is slowly fixing it up - at the moment there is no kitchen, but he did have a beautiful, newly re-felted pool table the kids kept trying to destroy.
Sunday afternoon we arrived home (it is about a 2 hour drive to the desert) after a stop in Sana Ysabel (by Julian) for pie, just in time to clean out the car, vacuum out the sand, and batton down the hatches for another rainstorm. Just another day here in paradise!

what a beautiful setting for a getaway! (did everyone have to walk in the house and say "oh lucy, i'm home?" (which is, of course, not a Gale Gordon line, but still...))
