March - in like a lion?

So March didn't come in like a lion, but we did have a lion's worth of rain - and some hail - last weekend.

When the skies finally parted, it was a wet soggy mess.

Meanwhile, I read on FB that yesterday was coq au vin day, and lo and behold, I had made a modified coq au riesling for supper. (Chicken thighs browned in the pot, add onion, fennel and carrot, some riesling, some veggie stock, some water. Serve over egg noodles with some chopped fennel fronds and sour cream.)

AND I made it through the week, including taking 20 students to the zoo. Luckily I appeared to know more about primates then they did. :) Actually, it was great fun to see the zoo from a new perspective. Some of the students had never been to the zoo, and several others had not been there since they were in jr. high.

(Not my student.)

hail?! weird. and speaking of weird, i've never tried fennel before - the coq au riesling sounds like a good place to try it. hmmm...

A college field trip--that would be interesting--and a first-time opportunity for some, hmm... I thought it was with JT's class. momsie

We had some hail, too! I was a little worried when you went from storms to coq au riesling... thought you might have lost a chicken! I guess they just go in the coop when it rains??
