Dear JT,
You won't remember today, or maybe you will - since we made chocolate cupcakes with purple frosting and watched the inaugural celebration for hours on television - but today I couldn't help but feel sentimental and even proud of America. You are a citizen of both Austria and the US, and maybe one day you will have to choose which country to pledge your allegiance to for your adult life,* but today was a good day to be holding that blue passport.

*Austria does not allow dual citizenship beyond 18 years of age - at least not currently.
