Happy Halloween from an alien, a witch, and Joe the Plumber (but for Obama).
So the T-Rex costume morphed into an alien at the last minute. First he told me he didn't want a tail, then he didn't like the sketch I made of the head I thought I might be able to make, so I was able to convince him that an alien would be fun, and I sewed a little hood and we attached 3 eyes and on Halloween morning when he insisted he needed to do a craft, we made an alien communicator. He had great fun trick-or-treating, after asking every five minutes starting in the morning if it was time yet. (This involved lots of crying at 5:30 when he still had to wait another half hour.) But the loot must have been worth it!
After the kids had their baskets filled, they all came back to our house for a little flashlight bone hunt in the backyard, apple bobbing, Shoo Vampire Soup and Ladies' Fingers , string cheese fingers, cheese eyes, and apple cider (even though it should have been iced apple cider since it was so warm) at our house. And the piece de resistance - a Sachertorte graveyard cake.
The kids were crazy, the adults ate and talked politics, and around 10 pm the last little boy and JT curled up in bed together. (Until JT decided he wanted his bed for himself.)

What a fun and interesting evening you all had...the stripey fabric made a great alien and you all seem to be terribly ghoulish party hosts! momsie
