Get down!

This weekend we went with our friends to the opening of SD's Contemporary Art Museum's new location downtown. The building is part of the train station - where the baggage was held previously. The opening exhibit was a neat piece by Ernesto Neto - fabric stretched across the ceiling with balls of spices hanging down. It reminded me of my grandmother's onions hung in old pantyhose legs in the basement. You could walk right up and smell the spices, sort of like being in a spice bazaar in Turkey. So it was a mix of cleanliness (with the white stretchy fabric), basement, and spice bazaar.

In the museum's gift bag was a paper trolley. The boys waved them around while dancing to a reggae band in the sun.

In other news, JT keeps saying things that cause his dad to ask, where did you learn that?
He was surprised this morning when JT said, "looks like a balloon shape," (although I thought he was saying spoon) and the other day he said "papa turn off the rice cooker." Obviously he is just picking up new words right and left and we no longer have to point them out. Kind of scary but quite fun! Posted by Picasa
