JT had a physical therapy appointment last week. He has been in therapy since he was 3 months old for his torticollis. Torticollis is also known as "wry neck" and occurs when one of the side of the neck muscles is shortened (in JT's case the right). JT was squished right side up in the uterus with his head against my ribcage (which means the nice shelf that I had during the end of the pregnancy upon which I perched my glass or bowl was actually his head). Basically his head tilted to the right and was turned to the left. Physical therapy and special exercises at home help stretch the shortened muscle and strengthen the other side. JT seemed much better by 6 months, but his head still tilted. Now at 10 1/2 months, he almost has full range of motion and only a very slight tilt. We continue doing his exercises (although we no longer have to do the one in the picture). Here you can see his therapist is stretching his neck and imagine how much he (and we) enjoyed it. JK took this picture with his cell phone when JT was about 5 months old.In other news, we will most likely be moving over the holidays. We found a cute house with a backyard in a different San Diegan neighborhood (to rent, not buy, the houses there are over $600,000!!!). More on that later.
