Blooming in March

I tend to consult my Pat Welsh's Southern California Gardening book about once a month to figure out what to plant, what to fertilize, etc. and look back at what was blooming and what I planted in seasons before (written in the margins), but it is much easier to look back on the blog. So what did I remember to photograph this weekend?

The jasmine on the corner post of the front porch is blooming - the scent is wonderful as you walk up to the house. (Some of the leaves turned brown - I think it might have been the couple of cold nights we had last month.)

The calla lilies are returning.

Not a flower, but what a neat butterfly. (Could it be a Western Tiger Swallowtail?)

Oh wait, that's me. I think my waistline grew another 3 inches since this picture. I am not sure if it is my old age or because this is the third pregnancy, but my hands and feet are quite swollen and I am very uncomfortable. I still have this week plus 2 more before I am off work and I don't think I will have much energy  then to work around the house. We'll see.
There were other blooms, too. I'll get back to them next time!
(And the tile guy was here - upon inspection, there is some 'lippage' on just a few tiles he has set. I hope he takes criticism well. Then again, it is his job to get it right. Right?)

You're looking good. I can almost smell the jasmine and the calla lilies are coming to remind us of the Easter season. Take care of yourself.

i wonder if there's an equivalent book for my neck of the woods? well, there probably is, but i wish i knew what it was.

Looks like everything is blooming at your place. Time to get off those feet and rest! At 33 I had to take a half hour nap with the twins at 10 am. Amazing TS would sit in front of the tv for those 30 minutes! Good luck with all your projects! Looks good! Love, AuntK
