Happy New Year!
The ornaments are packed up, so Christmas is officially over. Sigh. Tomorrow JT will have to pack up his Playmobil advent calendar and we will have to make some room in his closet for all his new toys! We were busy - fun in SJ with the family, including fondue, a boat ride in SF, cheeseballs, various illnesses, some Kinnekt dancing, etc. The drive wasn't even too bad, since we left in the late afternoon and missed all the traffic. Back home we had a visit from the grandparents, some quick sewing jobs, and now lots of stress before my class starts... next week. Oops, I think I just felt panic sinking in. I am teaching biological anthropology for the first time, and I am dreading it. It is not my field of expertise, so I am horribly uncomfortable and will have to cram every night before the lectures. Wish me luck.
Anyways, back to the holidays. They were fun and it has been great to have some time with the kids and not have to carpool around. Today I even got my first workout of 2011 in - but I didn't make my 5k.
Okay, time to put the ornament box in the basement. Perhaps one day I will have my life more organized. I also just realized I entered one student's grade incorrectly and have to head over to campus to correct that. Another chore. And my computer transformer shorted out, so I have to check email online, which I dislike, while I wait for a new one to arrive in the mail.
So far I am only about 50% pleased with this new year. I am trying to do the nice esoteric type thing and be all zen and embrace the change or be the change or something like that, but really I just want to sink into a soft fluffy bed with lots of good books, a couple movies, some snacks ... and not get up for about 7 months. The kids could fend for themselves - they know where the snacks are (and that is why I always find Z bar wrappers in the living room under the couch and chocolate smudges on Tiny's fingers), Tiny can operate the VCR himself, and JT can play the Wii. I could even order groceries over the internet. Hmm. This plan is sounding better and better. I just need someone to empty the cats' litter box. Any volunteers?
