Apparently, JT is not a desert flower. He got overheated on our short hike, and we didn't make it to the palm canyon. I decided that next time, some of us will watch the kids while the others go hiking. I need the exercise!
It is Monday - JT is at school, and the car is waiting to be unloaded, the clothes washed, some weeds pulled, the floors swept, an hour of editing-work for a friend, and I still have a nagging cough and a stuffy head. The horrendous wind that nearly carried off our tents surely didn't help. We were camping with friends, and the men carried the boys away to a ranger talk after dinner and roasted marshmellows so that the ladies could enjoy a cup of wine in peace. Except that we spent most of that 35 minutes throwing all the leftover dinner paraphenalia into the cars, chasing the tents, and looking for rocks big enough to weigh them down. Luckily we had some string in the car, so JK tied our tent to the car and our friends (who had a much better tent), set theirs at the right angle to have the wind just push through. And oddly enough, the wind calmed down, the boys went to sleep (around 10), and we were able to enjoy a fresh cup of wine, since the wine from ealier had been blown right out of the cups.

That was windy! Was it a reverse of Santa Ana winds?
Hope you all feel better this week!
Love, gma/momsie
