Before we left for Austria, JK told JT about all the fruit they would pick there. As it turns out, he was right. They picked cherries, blueberries and raspberries at Cousin E's house, picked strawberries at a U-pick farm nearby, and yesterday we ventured into the woods to try some wild blueberries. All the low bushes in this picture are blueberry bushes. Yummy! It was worth the 4 ticks!

Just so you don't get the idea that in Austria, everyone has to forage for their own meals, here is a shot of our dinner later that evening. We went to a local Buschenschenke, a "bush-bar," which is a little farm eatery that serves only homemade items (in some areas there are exceptions to the rule.) Everything here was made on the farm.

And those without farms can always buy their things at the local store. This is the little store in JK's home town. It is right down the street from Opa's house, so we've gone several times.
And not too far from Opa's is Burg Hochosterwitz. We drove by today, and JT asked if we could hike up to the castle. He wanted to see what was inside. What do you think you would see inside, I asked him. "A king!!!" he exclaimed.
