The Boys on the "Couch"
JT picked out his toy at the store - a baby with a "doo-doo," which is apparently what one or two of the little girls from his school call a pacifier. He likes to take it out and feed "Baby Marian" or "Baby Immy" a bottle and then put it back in, and then he discovered that the baby has a "broken pee-pee" (German for, well, use your imagination), but he also likes to put her on the potty. He then looked at the German nursery rhyme book we bought, which is demonstrative of earlier child-rearing concepts, and he asked why the man is cutting the boy's finger. Actually, he is cutting off his thumbs because he wouldn't stop sucking them. A little girl burns to ashes, all except her little shoes, in another one, that teaches kids not to play with matches. Hmm, we'll put that book away for now!
He also survived his first tick! Luckily, JK insisted that JT get an immunization against tick-born encephalitis as soon as we arrived, so he should be at least somewhat protected. (I wasn't in the room, but he didn't even cry when he got the shot at the doctor's in Burgenland. And then he got to pick out a lollypop, so he wanted to go again!)

we had a tick in the house the other day - i think i brought it in from the bamboo patch, but it was dis-patched rather quickly. eew. the draisinentour sounds pretty neat, but i'm not so sure those books sound like much fun. i did wonder though, just when did kids' books go all happy-smiley? seems like our books ended well (fish out of water, cat in the hat), but maybe our cartoons were not so happy? wil e. coyote always seemed to get the short end of the stick.
I had no idea that "broken pee-pee" was German. :D
I second the ewww on the tick. Did JT mind at all?
