| Old Point Loma Lighthouse. You couldn't go in - perhaps because they were expecting crowds on free national parks/monuments day. |
Last weekend we enjoyed company from Germany - my 'host-sister,' her husband and their two kids. My host-sister (I lived with her and her family as an exchange student in high school) had been to San diego before - she flew out to Atlanta and drove cross-country with me when I moved the SD in 1999. That was a great trip - the car was packed full with my odds and ends, two bicycles were on the carrier strapped over the trunk and each of us had our backseat of useful items as we took in national parks and camped in all sorts of campgrounds.
| Con Pane. Really good bread. |
We had a crazy heatwave, and that finally broke Wednesday with - you won't believe it - a thunderstorm! We very seldom have thunder or lightening, even in the rainy season, so it was fun for JT at school (he apparently played Raining Star Wars during recess) and it was wonderful for our thirsty and dusty plants.

More nice pics! and the watermelon looks yummy! And I bet it tasted better than the supermarket specials, too.
love, momsie
What were you growing on the gourd tree? That wasn't the watermelon, was it?
How nice that K and her family came to visit you folks.
Yes, there's something special about picking your own produce that is very satisfying.
